Dumuzid is the Mesopotamian “shepherd god” that is associated with fertility and livestock. He is later known by the name of Tammuz.
He is the most well-known lover of Inanna, whom he has married when he was still a mortal.
Dumuzid is closely associated with the Greek god, Adonis.
